In 1969, a grant of $5,000's was obtained by Lewis University accounting professor, Roger Ashamy, from the Richard B. Vance investment company of Joliet, Illinois. The sole purpose of this grant was to give Lewis Students the opportunity to obtain real world investing experience by investing in the market. This marked the beginning of one of the oldest university investment clubs in the country.

In the 1970's and early 1980's the investment fund was managed by Lewis students from the college of business. During the 1990's, the direction of the club and fund was given to Gary Menconi, professor of finance, where his students continued to invest the money. When professor Menconi left Lewis University to pursue his own investment company the funds from the club were moved with him.

Over the last 49 years, the initial $5,000 fund has grown to over $250,000's through the original management by Lewis student investors, and the careful investment practices provided by Menconi. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Lawrence Hill, professor of economics, the students of Lewis University will again be in charge of investing these funds, This will be done under the newfound Lewis Investment Club, which will officially begin investing during the Fall 2018 semester.
